Railway alternatives
Railway is one of the cleanest modern PaaS offerings, but usage-based pricing surprises some teams, and the closed ecosystem doesn't fit every stack.
Here are the realistic alternatives for 2026.
Flat monthly with BYO-server free forever.
Best for
Caveat: No built-in databases, attach Neon / Supabase / native addons instead.
Full PaaS at predictable tier pricing.
Best for
Caveat: Free web services spin down; paid starts at $7/service.
Multi-region container host.
Best for
Caveat: `fly.toml` config overhead; pricing compounds across regions.
Global-first containerised PaaS with a generous free tier.
Best for
Caveat: Smaller ecosystem, newer platform, less battle-tested than Railway.
$6 VPS, Doable's agent, unlimited projects.
Best for
Caveat: You own uptime, backups, and TLS renewal monitoring.
Railway's billing model is metered per-resource; Doable's is flat. If your app has unpredictable load, Railway's usage billing can be cheaper. If you want a line-item you can budget against, Doable's flat $15 / $39 is the clearer pick, plus a free BYO path Railway doesn't offer.
Depends on load. At light traffic, Railway is often the cheapest; at sustained heavy load, flat-priced peers (Doable, Render, Fly) win. Running the math on a typical month's usage is worthwhile before picking.
Doable's BYO flow is the closest feel, you get the polished PaaS UX without paying for Cloud infra. Dokku and CapRover are the fully-DIY options, but they come with a real ops burden.
Not natively. Doable has first-party MCP tools for Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex, `/deploy` works inside the editor chat. For Railway you'd CLI-switch or browser-switch.
